12 kilometers north of the Saudi Arabia border, and across the Gulf of Aqaba (Red Sea) from Egypt lies the lovely coastal town of Aqaba.
Aqaba is famous for its world-class diving, snorkeling, and seafood. Spend your morning lounging around the resort beach before catching an early afternoon (when visibility is best) snorkeling around the Japanese Garden in Aqaba’s stunning south coast.
Catch a late lunch in the center of town at Ali Baba – an Aqaba staple. Check out their fresh catch of the day (I highly recommend the grilled spicy fish with Ali Baba sauce) and finish with some Mövenpick ice cream.
Walk off the calories with a leisurely stroll along the corniche towards South Beach, where you can catch a gorgeous sunset over the Great Arab Revolt Plaza before visiting the castle nearby.
Retrace your steps back towards the magnificent mosque just in time for twilight and evening prayers.
