Day 2 in Ubud consisted of cooking and eating up a storm at Bumi Bali Cooking School.
We started our lesson in the market, where we learned about all the essential spices needed for ‘boom boom Bali’, a spicy sauce used by the Balinese to make everything from sambal to curry to satay.
The first dish we cooked up was sayur urab, a spicy veggie stir fry topped with sambal. Next up was minced pork satay (or meat lollies) dipped in boom boom Bali sauce. The main dish was chicken curry, and it was much easier to cook than anticipated. Dessert consisted of fried bananas topped with palm sugar syrup.
